Rules
Players and Substitutions
- Teams' must have 3 players on their roster and be registered by the entry deadline. (July 17th) No changes will be allowed after teams first scheduled game.
- A game must start with at least 2 players on each team.
- Player substitution is permitted during any dead ball. Players must check in at scoring table. In case of game stopping injury, injured player must sit out until next dead ball.
Pre-Game
- Both teams will warm up at the same time prior to the game.
- Only the teams scheduled are allowed to occupy the court at their scheduled time.
- Teams must be at the court at their scheduled time, even if games are running behind. The point of reference for game times can be found in the group stage or tournament schedule.
Officials
- One or Two officials will oversee every game.
- Disputes or questions will be determined by tournament director.
Time / Scoring
- A successful field goal is worth 1 point.
- A successful field goal beyond the three point line is worth 2 points. The player shooting must have both feet behind the arc when initiating the shot.
- Each game will be played to 21 (win by 2) or a total of 15 minutes.
- Each Team is allowed 2, one minute time out per game. Player or coach may call a timeout anytime when their team has possession or during any dead ball.
- If the 15 minutes runs out, the team with the most points at this time will win the game. If tied, teams will play a 2 minute overtime.
- In the last 2 minutes the clock will be stopped at any and every dead ball.
Possession and Game Play
- The ball must be taken back behind the three point line after every change of possession. Taken back means both feet and the ball must be behind the three point line. Violation occurs if a basket is made by a team failing to properly take it back. This will occur in a loss of point scored and possession of the ball will go to the other team.
- After all successful shots or change of possession, the ball must be checked and passed in by the offense.
Fouls and Free Throws
- If a defensive player is fouled, play will be stopped and the possession will turn over to the defense. Unless ruled a technical foul, all offensive fouls will result in a turnover instead of free throws.
- If an offensive player is fouled anywhere on the court it will result in 1 free throw for that player. The player shooting must have both feet completely behind the line when initiating and completing the attempt.
Technical Fouls - Flagrant and Intentional Fouls, Player Misconduct
The official may assess a Technical Foul for misconduct, flagrant, or intentional fouls committed. This may Include :
- A contact foul intended to hurt an opponent, fan or official
- Vulgar or verbally abusive behavior
- A contact foul obviously designed to neutralize an opponents obvious advantageous position
- Fighting and/or throwing a punch automatically results in a technical foul assessed against player(s) involved. Player(s) involved will also be ejected from the Play For Purpose tournament.
- Other misconduct deemed inappropriate by the game official
Penalty :
- Two free throws, worth one point each, will be awarded to the offended team. The offended team will retain possession of the ball whether the shots are made or missed.
- Any player committing two Technical Fouls in a game is automatically ejected from that game and his/her next game.
